Siler City is a town in Chatham County, North Carolina. Siler City was the home of Frances Bavier, best remembered for her role as Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show, a television sitcom in the 1960s set in the fictional town of Mayberry, North Carolina. 

Founded in 1887, Siler City is the largest town in Chatham County and has an estimated 8,000+ residents over six square miles. In the western part of the county, it is convenient to the Greensboro area as well as the Triangle. Two major highways, US 421 and US 64, cross in Siler City.

The downtown area includes many historic buildings, which currently house shops and restaurants, banks, churches, and even an arts incubator. Several murals illustrating the town’s history and culture have been painted on several exterior walls throughout town. Several of Chatham county’s major industries are located in Siler City, including textile plants and poultry processors.
